Here is a summary and message from Dr. Ron Vilog, the conference chair:

Dear NUAL-Ph Officers, members and guests:

I would like to congratulate everyone, as this conference is organized by our team (NUAL GSID Alumni), in partnership with HNU.

It's amazing how each presenter really prepared very good research paper, more than what we  expected. Presentations are all intellectually stimulating-- from agricultural productivity issues, to the origins of the Chocolate Hills. The members of the audience, too, have actively engaged with the presenters and organizers. Indeed, a very productive scholarly gathering.

It's even more amazing to see colleagues and fellow alumni celebrating friendship and reminiscing those wonderful memories in Meidai. As our Japanese friends wrote in their message of thanks, it was " a precious opportunity...  totally, totally unforgettable!" After the conference, we had another drinking (beach!!) party in Panglao. And last Sunday, Kuya Miloy and other presenters toured the island of Bohol.

This event wouldn't be so fruitful without Marcos, Ma'am Indette and Sir Andy. Thank you for traveling to Bohol to represent NUAL - PH.

Marcos took the initiative to check all areas of conference preparations -- from welcome dinner to logistics and program content. He was very efficient and reliable, and really, he should be commended for the successful implementation of this project.

Ma'am Indette and Sir Andy were very supportive and inspiring, as both of them graciously welcomed the participants, speakers, and our partners at HNU. They both promoted NUAL and Nagoya University to guests and participants, and the response seemed positive: a lot of students and faculty approached the registration staff, wrote their email addresses, and asked for leaflets and brochures from NU. I believe we successfully disseminated crucial information about NUAL and Meidai.

And of course, I wish to thank Br. Miloy for accommodating us at HNU. Such warm hospitality is truly remarkable! We appreciate the welcome tarpaulin, dynamic registration staff, cheerful students and faculty, wonderful audience, efficient 'runners', entertaining emcees, world-class choral performance, and excellent paper presenters from HNU. The SVD priests literally "opened" their community house for NUAL-PH, served the finest seafood in town, and even offered their rooms for us. God bless you, and the SVD and HNU community, Kuya Miloy.

This is definitely a good start. I am hoping that we can organize similar activities soon, in partnership with HNU. I attached some photos from my phone. We will compile all photos, and share the complete report to everyone before we submit it to GSID.

Daghang salamat sa lahat. We are all part of this successful conference.

 Cheers,

Ron Bridget Vilog, Ph.D.
