NUFSAA is the blog for Filipino scholars and alumni of Nagoya University (NU), Japan. The alumni are those who earned degrees in the Bachelors, Master's and Doctor's programs at NU. The scholars include visiting students who undertook non-degree programs, special seminars/training including the intensive six-month Japanese language course.

Meidai Civil & Environmental Engg Alumni to hold ACEER Research Colloquium on May 19, 2023


The Civil and Environmental Engineering alumni of Nagoya University Graduate School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (NUCEE) will hold an onsite RESEARCH COLLOQUIUM on Advancements in Civil & Environmental Engineering Research (ACEER): The Nagoya University Experience on 19 May 2023 (Fri), 1:00 – 5:00 PM at De La Salle University, Manila. The event is scheduled coinciding with the visit of Prof. Hikaru Nakamura, Professor of NU Dept. of Civil Engineering - Concrete Research Laboratory.  The highlights of the event are:

  • Keynote Lecture on Advanced Concrete Research by Prof. Hikaru Nakamura 
  • Research Presentations on various CE topics by NUCEE Alumni
  • Poster Research Compilation of NUCEE Alumni
  • Information Session on Scholarships for Graduate Studies and Research in Japan

The research colloquium target participants are CE faculty who handle thesis, DLSU MSCE graduate students and junior students, government civil engineers from DPWH & DENR and other agencies who are interested to pursue graduate studies through the Japanese Grant Aid (JDS) program.

 The colloquium is organized by a committee of NUCEE alumni: Dr. Andy Oreta (Chair),  Dr. Rodolfo Mendoza, Jr. (Program and Publications), Jomar Romero and Jonas Quero (Invitations & Alumni Networking), Aralyn Quintos & Jowhell Villegas (Registration). DLSU CPD Committee and CESDR are co-organizers who will manage the venue and facilities.

The plan is onsite participants are by invitation only - limited to DLSU graduate students, Invited faculty from other schools and NU alumni. The undergrad and grad students may watch the live streaming via Zoom.

The NUCEE alumni are invited to

NUAL-PH holds Shinenkai & General Assembly 2023

The Nagoya University Alumni Association - Philippine Branch (NUAL-PH) held its Shinenkai and General Assembly dubbed as "I Love Meidai' on 18 February 2023 (11:30 AM  - 2:30 PM) at the University Hotel, UP Diliman, QC. The event was attended by 26 Filipino and Japanese alumni of Nagoya University. The program is presented below:

























The highlights of the event are the virtual tour of Nagoya University today, self-introduction of the alumni, president's (Andy Oreta) and tresurer's (Daisy Montesa) report for 2022 and the Recognition of Ms. Cecille P. Tolentino for her "invaluable guidance and assistance to generations of Filipino Japanese Government Scholars who are now successful professionals contributing to human development and nation building." Ms. Cecille Tolentino has been the person-in-charge of Monbusho/MEXT scholars from 1967 to 2005. Dr. Resty Collado (NUAL-PH Founding President) gave the message of appreciation to Ms. Tolentino in behalf of the association. The alumni had fun with games and raffle prepared by the officers Jomar Romero, Daisy Montesa, Mac Mendoza, Jonas Quero and Aralyn Quintos. The alumni gave donations in cash and in kind which were used as prizes for the games and raffle.

NUAL Philippine Branch holds GA and Elections - 12 June 2022

Zoom General Assembly - 12 June 2022

 About 23 members of the Philippine Branch of Nagoya University Alumni Association (NUAL-PH) held a virtual general assembly on June 12, 2022 from 10:00 - 12:00 via Zoom. The current officers of NUAL-PH first reported their previous accomplishments. Ms. Daisy Montesa presented the treasurer's report while incumbent president Dr. Cybthia Saloma presented the accomplishments and projects of NUAL-PH from 2018 to 2021. After the reports, the members elected the new officers for 2022 - 2024 which is shown below:



Aside from the officers, coordinators/members of adhoc committees were nominated to engage more members in NUAL-PH activities. The tentative list of members of the adhoc committees is as follows:

  •        BioAgri Sci Committee Members -   Amelita Estacio, Willie Abasolo
  •        GSID Committee Members -  Mario Aguja (Mindanao), Roberto Acosta (Luzon) 
  •      Engineering Committee Members -  Ivy Kristine Toquero
  •       Japanese Language and Visiting Researchers - Mary Ruth Palanca
  •        NU Graduate Students and Faculty - Joyce Cartagena
 The board of advisers of NUAL-PH consists of past presidents - Resty Collado and Indette Gaspillo and Dai-Sempai, Jing Masangkay.
